From Miami Beach to Sunrise, there is no shortage of opportunities to boogie this week. Oye! If you feel like movin' your booty to some Latin rhythms, then head to Starfish (1427 West Ave., Miami Beach) on Friday or Saturday to hear Bamboleo, one of the more dynamic bands to hail from the turbulent little commie outpost to the south. Four handsome vocalists (two male and two female) lead the fourteen-piece ensemble, which is well-known for energetic performances meshing traditional Cuban roots music with jazz, salsa, and good old American funk. The doors open at 10:00 p.m. and the cover charge is $20. Call 305-673-1717 for more information.

If Bamboleo's timba doesn't get your groove on, then check out Bobby Rush. During the past 40 years Rush has perfected a special blend of blues, soul, funk, and a whole lotta fuck. His sexually charged show is loaded with hip-dislocating gyrations, soulful belting-out of song, and racy innuendo. This distinctive combination of eclectic elements has garnered Rush numerous accolades, including Living Blues magazine's best live performer award in '95, '97, '98, and '99. The concert is Thursday at Alligator Alley (2079 N. University Dr., Sunrise), doors open 9:00 p.m., and the cover charge is $15. Call 954-742-6874 for details.

When a band shuns the mainstream as much as Fugazi does, you know it won't disappoint its fans. And so as promised, the hardcore legends roll into the Chili Pepper (200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) on Tuesday for a concert postponed from December 13. The doors to this all-ages show open at 6:00 p.m. and tickets are six dollars. Call 954-525-0094.
