Welcome to the first Prunk TV episode of 2011! And we'll start off with footage of Drake performing at the W Hotel South Beach on New Year's Eve. Drake is at the top of his game right now. It was the perfect way to bring in the New Year. Bleidat!
As a venue, the W is off the chain. Lots of diamonds, Louis Vuitton sunglasses, Gucci shoes, free vodka, comfy couches, swagger, lust, and party favors upon the ground. Plus, Lebron James and various members of the Miami Heat were in the building.
Amazing.
A few hours later as the orange sun rose up over the Atlantic Ocean across the street, an overwhelming sense of awe filled our hearts: Adios 2010! The next 365 days are going to be the best in human history! Thank you, Drake! BTW Drizzy informed us that he is now a Miami resident!
I also spoke with Cortez Bryant (see video below), the former President of Young Money Records, who currently manages Lil Wayne and most of Young Money's artists. Bryant is so crazy. Drake said, "If it wasn't for Cortez, me and Lil Wayne wouldn't be here." The Canadian rapper continued, "If you love Drake and Lil Wayne, you gotta love Cortez Bryant." I do.
Side Note: I just want to say that a decade has ended! A new decade has just begun! And it's weird how pop culture seems to be divided by decade.
Back in the '60s, there was Woodstock. Back in the '70s, there was disco. Back in the '80s, there was Less Than Zero and hair metal. Back in the 90s, there was grunge. And back in the 2000s was .... hmm ... Cash Money? Facebook? Face tattos? Maybe just an explosive decade of technology, cell phones with HD video and metal detector apps, Twitter, foreclosures, 9/11, etc.?
In any case, New Year's Eve this past Friday night was beyond fantastic.
Another side note: Some believe that a "spiritual revolution" is what we need in the 2010s, including my mom, who lent me her copy of The Secret, a book about positive thinking. It also seems that more and more of my peers are practicing various forms of yoga, meditation, exercise, and other techniques that enhance positive mental attitude (PMA). I am a strong advocate of PMA and a believer in the law of attraction. I tell you this: It works!
If you are skeptical, try the following exercise: Finish reading and watching the videos contained in this blog, and then go look at yourself in the mirror and say, "I love me!" Doesn't that feel great?!
