In the ongoing spirit of philanthropy that seems to have taken over
Miami's dance music scene (with recent charitable events like "The
Vagabond for a Cause" with John Digweed and "Dance for a Cause"
featuring Chris Fortier at Electric Pickle) Technique Miami presents
"Get Funk'd Up" at Soho Studios on August 29, a party to benefit Help
Darfur Now.
Combining live music, interactive art installations, body painting, and an elaborate light show, Get Funk'd Up
promises an unforgettable night of multi-sensory stimulation at one of
Wynwood's premier venues which has hosted such past events as the PULSE
art fair and various WMC and Miami Fashion Week parties.
The dance-friendly musical lineup will include DJ sets by local
favorites Danny Daze, Troy Kurtz, and Santiago Caballero, and most
notably by Boston-based electro duo Pirate Stereo, who have garnered
increasing recognition in the East Coast since 2006, playing alongside
the likes of Alan Braxe, Diplo, and Treasure Fingers.
In addition to
the visual flair provided by local artists Diani Safdeye, Marisa
Matluck and Andrea Chehebar, the hosts are encouraging patrons to bring
in glow sticks and neon paraphernelia of their own to add to the "glow
in the dark" theme of the party, for which they will also provide
water-soluble neon paint so that you can paint yourselves or each other and express yourselves by painting on the walls. So if you're feeling
limber on Saturday night, head down to Soho Studios for a night of
rowdy and colorful fun and party for a cause that truly matters!
