The 40-year-old DJ who rose through the ranks of Miami radio to become a plant-watering symbol of all things successful, announced today that he will be opening for Beyoncé on her upcoming Formation World Tour.
The tour kicks off on April 27 at Marlins Park in Miami.
"They told me I would never tour. Now I'm on the Beyoncé formation tour. Stadium alert!" Khaled said in a brief Instagram video, lighting a celebratory cigar.
He elaborated in the description:
Today I proudly announce a major milestone in my career. Today's announcement is a major accomplishment in my life. In other words it's a major achievement alert!!!! I am proud to announce that I, DJ Khaled will be on tour with the icon, Beyoncé!!!!! Fan luv, when I tell you that prayer is the so powerful, please believe me. Khaled usually plays snippets from his wide range of hit singles as he screams his famous catch phrases at the crowd.
Khaled finally got a chance to work with Jay Z on "They Don't Love You No More," a track from Khaled's last album, I Changed a Lot. And three months ago, Khaled proudly announced that he'd signed with Roc Nation management, Jay Z's company.
Clearly all this played a role in Khaled joining B onstage for the Formation World Tour. But also, can you blame Beyoncé for wanting Khaled as an opener? Though perhaps the polar opposite of Bey in terms of poise and composure (and hair and dancing ability), few people know how to work a crowd quite like Khaled.
