Chileans have certainly made their mark on the international EDM scene -- Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Alexi Delano and Nicolas Jaar were all born and/or raised in Chile, just to name a few. So was Alejandra Iglesias, AKA Dinky, a Berlin-based DJ and producer who's been in the game for a good decade but has only gained international status in the last few years.
She knows the right peeps. As a fledgling producer back in Chile, she befriended Villalobos and Luciano.
And she's checked off all the requisites for any hip international techno star: releases on top labels like Cocoon, Wagon Repair, Mobilee, and her own Horizontal imprint; studio collaborations with the likes of Seth Troxler; and DJ residencies at Berlin hotspots like Panorama Bar.
Dinky brings equal parts brooding sensuality and high experimentalism to her take on techno. Which is not to say she doesn't have the versatility and crowd-pleasing disposition to put on a no-frills, fun-loving disco-house set that anyone can dig. And if this DJ mix is anything to go by, Miami is in for some good times when Dinky throws down at Electric Pickle this Friday with the PL0T crew.
