2010 marked not only the quartercentennial anniversary of Miami's Winter Music Conference but also 25 years of Detroit techno, the seminal EDM movement that spawned the worldwide techno phenomenon.
And this year is also a significant one for Detroit techno, as it marks the 20th anniversary of Carl Craig's Planet E imprint. A prolific producer with an eclectic and multi-faceted discography, Craig is considered one of Detroit techno's foremost minds, and Planet E one of its most important labels.
Fans can look forward to a best-of label compilation entitled 20 F@#&ING Years: We Ain't Dead Yet. And there will be also be a 2011 world tour, with Craig joined by a variety of special guests, including Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Sven Vath, and Dubfire. Expect the tour to come through Miami during WMC/Ultra week in March.
But you don't even have to wait that long to see the legendary Carl Craig in action, since he'll be putting on an exclusive performance at the Electric Pickle February 11, along with Mr. C for the club's two-year anniversary party.
