"He is one of our coworkers, a friend, and a loyal patron," says Mamushka's bar manager Javier Sanchez, describing former Bar employee Dylan Nunn, known as Crunk.

Currently in a dangerous coma-like state, Sanchez says, "He's battling for his life and we want to show his family support." You might remember Crunk hanging out at Bar on NE 14th Street. You might have seen him, covered with tattoos. Or maybe you've spotted his tag around town.

In response to this tragedy, Mamushka's, staffed mostly with his former co-workers, is throwing an all-day, all-night backyard benefit bash that will bring together Crunk's friends and help raise money. Sanchez says all proceeds will go to his family to help pay for medical expenses.

"He's a modern-day folk hero-slash-graffiti martyr, as evidenced by there being more Crunk tags on our walls than when he was up and around," notes Mamushka's co-owner Casey Zap. He was surprised when bar-back Chris Moreno planned the whole affair, but happy to have people come out, "We've got love for Crunk," he says.

The show will feature a long lineup of local musicians including Kabuki Iron Kolors dropping some funk, '90s-style rockers Haochi Waves, ladies-who-shred Snakehole, and the angry dudes of Secret Arms.

There'll also be tattoos by Hell Bound City, live painting to hypnotize the stoned, and crank burgers to satisfy the munchies. Come show some love.

Crunk Fest Benefit Show with Kabuki Iron Kolors, Haochi Waves, Snakehole, Secret Arms, The Talkin Dogs, Llamabeats, and Vice City Rockers, plus DJs Stevezy and Benton. Saturday, November 26.
