Despite opposing views on war, the current administration, or foreign policy, supporting our men and women in uniform is something that all Americans can agree on.
After all, we're forever indebted to their brave, selfless service, and commitment to our country.
So buy a vet a beer. Or simply thank a service member. Though small, they'll appreciate the gesture.
If you really want to go all out, though, invite a veteran to the Jon Secada-hosted benefit concert, Miami Rocks Our Troops.
With proceeds going to HonorVet.org, an organization helping veterans and their families, Miami Rocks Our Troops is a one-night, multi-act mini-fest at BankUnited Center with scheduled performances by "Achy Breaky Heart" king Billy Ray Cyrus, and ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons -- not to mention Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, José "Feliz Navidad" Feliciano, dance-pop diva Erika Jayne, American Idol alumnus Sammy Arriaga, and others.
"Home to a lot of our Latino veterans, Miami is the perfect place to create an event as diverse as its culture and vibe," HonorVet.org co-founder and CEO Jesse Canella said in a statement. "We are sure we will have a concert worthy of those who have served this nation of all."
Miami Rocks Our Troops. Saturday, September 29. BankUnited Center, 1245 Dauer Dr, Coral Gables. The benefit begins at 8 p.m. and tickets cost $45 to $125 plus fees via ticketmaster.com. Call 305-284-8686 or visit bankunitedcenter.com.
