Friday night's weekly Flamingo Fridays party at PS14 marks the first show in a while on this side of the county line for the Miami foursome Astari Nite. The band has been steadily plugging away at its chilly, Placebo-influenced rock, but recent weeks have seen it playing mostly around Broward and even West Palm Beach. Now that summer is almost here, singer Mychael Ghost and company have set to work on a proper debut EP, heading into the studio soon with Howard Melnick, formerly of Fashionista and currently of Champagne Days. They plan to release a final five-song, self-titled disc in August. And while this edition of Flamingo welcomes back Astari Nite, it also bids bon voyage to local co-headliner Old Wives Tale. Those post-punk dance-floor hoodlums will leave next week on a mini European tour that will take them through England and Spain.
