Is Basel finally moving to Wynwood?

Nope. The main arty party's still anchored out on Miami Beach. But Flaunt Magazine, 3P Production (the self-described "creative team behind Bardot"), and Mana Wynwood are bringing yet another unofficial outpost of Art Basel Miami Beach to the 'Wood.

During next month's Basel week, Flaunt, 3P, and Mana will host a "three-night concert series, kicking off with electronic music band Darkside," AKA Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington.

Over the last couple of years, Jaar, a Chilean-American electronic producer and critical fave, has made regular solo trips to Miami, even playing a Basel show at Bardot last year.

Lately, though, he's been focusing less on Nico and more on Darkside, his experimental (and occasionally oddball) collaborative project with Harrington, a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and former classmate of Jaar's at Brown University.

In 2011, Darkside dropped its debut EP. Then this past summer, the duo assumed the pseudonym Daftside and revealed Random Access Memories Memories, a track-by-track remix of Daft Punk's latest LP.

Now, Jaar and Harrington have a new full-length album of original material, just released earlier this month via Matador Records. They've plotted a world tour. And as the Art Basel Mana Wynwood announcement enthuses: "Our three-night series will kick off with Darkside's premiere show of their debut album, Psychic, on Thursday, December 5."

However, Darkside is only a small part of Art Basel Mana Wynwood's party plan.

"It's part of a full weekend's worth of art and music activities that will be going on in the Mana Wynwood space during Art Basel week," 3P's David Sinopoli tells Crossfade.

"We will be announcing two to three more music shows," Sinopoli adds, "and a lot of art-focused programming that will happening during the day and into the night."

Darkside. As part of Flaunt Magazine, 3P Production, and Mana Wynwood's three-night concert series. Thursday, December 5. Mana Wynwood, 318 NW 23rd Ave., Miami. The show starts at 10 p.m. and tickets cost $32 plus fees via showclix.com. Ages 18 and up. Visit artbaselmanawynwood.com.
