The Electric Pickle has something for everyone this Friday night with a stellar triple booking hosted by top local EDM contingents PL0T and Poplife that should provide for a delectable melange of sounds ranging from indie to techno. To kick things off, Mr. Andy Rourke of The Smiths fame will be playing an exclusive DJ set downstairs along with Poplife resident DJ Aramis. After years of contributing his singular twangy low notes to '80s indie darlings The Smiths, Rourke is now a successful DJ spinning for XFM Manchester Radio and specializing in new and classic indie anthems, which should make him quite at home with the Poplife crowd.
Meanwhile the PL0T residents will be warming up the upstairs room for some serious groovy deepness courtesy of Glimpse and Monkey Maffia. UK-based producer Christopher Spero a.k.a. Glimpse, whose new album "Runner" we reviewed this week, is one of the most innovative and critically-acclaimed artists in contemporary EDM and will be returning after his much-lauded WMC performances to put on a highly-anticipated live PA in support of the new release. Sören Bodner a.k.a. Monkey Maffia is one half of the esteemed German deep tech duo Wighnomy Brothers and puts on seductive and richly-eclectic DJ sets that run the gamut between fidgety sexed-up microhouse and the deeper end of techno. Friday nights at the Pickle rarely disappoint and with the sheer talent in line for this party, this one is straight-up unmissable.
