If Swedish music were a piece of furniture, it'd be a Bestå/Framstå setup, IKEA's topnotch entertainment storage combo.

Like that particular line of fine affordable furniture, Swedish acts come in several sizes and variations — ABBA, the Cardigans, the Tallest Man on Earth, Lykke Li, and Peter Bjorn and John, to name just a few. Lately, though, the northern European kingdom of Sweden is experiencing a groundswell of bass drops and bleep-bloops, the result of electronic dance music's worldwide takeover. And riding shotgun on the revolutionary journey is 2011's 70th best DJ, Alesso.

The Swedish house DJ broke onto the EDM scene last year, becoming one of the genre's best-known success stories. His remixes of Nadia Ali's "Pressure" and Swedish House Mafia's "Save the World" quickly became two of 2011's biggest hits, and his collaboration with Sebastian Ingrosso on "Calling" propelled him to dance-music superstardom.

Earlier this year, MTV ranked Alesso one of the top nine "EDM Rookies to Watch in 2012," placing him in the spotlight with DJs such as Hardwell and Zedd. "Everything's been going really fast. But I'm, like, super, superhappy about the year," Alesso said in a March interview with MTV News. "I can't wait to see how [the rest of] 2012 is going to be."

Be there when he unleashes that Swedish uhntz-uhntz at LIV this Wednesday.
