For many, the zoo already contains enough creatures you wouldnt want to meet in a dark alley (or perhaps more horrifying, paying full price to see animals that never crawl out from their hiding places). But for the truly brave, theres always Dr. Wildes Creepy House, part of Spooktober at Zoo Miami.
Open Saturday through Halloween, Dr. Wildes Creepy House is not your typical haunted mansion. The 7,000-square-foot space offers stomach-churning set pieces, disgusting food, creepy zookeepers, roaches commandeering a kitchen, and cats taking over a dead grandmas home. In other words, the place taps into the fears of both a mother visiting her sons college dorm and a middle-aged spinster who hasnt found a mate. Kids will delight in the grossness, while adults will be reminded to keep their home clean and perhaps invest in a Life Alert necklace. Parental discretion is advised for the younger ones.
