The term music producer used to mean something. These days it’s used too frequently to describe the onslaught of bedroom tweakers who in reality need the studio wizardry only a real producer can provide. However, when using DJ-producer to describe Alex Metric, you couldn’t be more spot on. When the Brit isn’t busy DJing, he’s either remixing (see Gorillaz, Depeche Mode, La Roux, and N.E.R.D.) or producing music for himself and others (see Charlie XCX and Infadels). But if you’re still unfamiliar with Metric’s work, check his collaboration with Steve Angello on “Open Your Eyes,” which BBC Radio 1 host Pete Tong described as “a tune so large it’s going to [need] its own venue.” The electro track delivers an intensifying beat that climaxes at a dizzying height. Witness Metric’s production skills this Wednesday when he stops by LIV at the Fontainebleau, where resident DJs Ross One, Contra, and Jessica Who will also be on hand.
