This Thursday through Tuesday, find true amore at the fifth annual Romance in a Can Film Festival (RIAC). See the crème de la crème of swoon-worthy European films at Miami's intimate art houses the Colony Theatre, Miami Beach Cinematheque, and Coral Gables Art Cinema. The fest begins Thursday with a 7:30 p.m. cocktail reception at the Angler's Boutique Resort, followed by a screening of The Age of Reason at 8:30.
This year, RIAC will show the nine acclaimed international full-length films that ACID (not the drug, the Association for the Distribution of Independent Cinema) presented at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival: Into Our Hands, Cuchillo de Palo, Donoma, Fix Me, Flowers of Evil, Chicks, Pursuit, Robert Mitchum Is Dead, and The Drifter. And just to give your heartstrings an additional tug, Red Chemistry Inc., a nonprofit that raises funds for local youth art programs, will sponsor a short film competition for students from Miami Beach Senior High School this Friday in conjunction with RIAC.
