St. Patrick's Day is one of those blessed holidays, like birthdays. If it falls on a workday, you get to celebrate it not once, but twice. Well, it's on a Wednesday this year, so save the nightlife drinking debauchery for then. Make Saturday for the festivals, for the family, for the Irish food.

In Delray Beach, the 42nd annual St. Patrick's Day Parade will take place at 2 p.m. (pre-parade performances begin at 1 p.m.). The parade will be filled with hundreds of firefighters from across the state and Ireland, including the Dublin Ireland Fire Brigade. Fire department ladder trucks will be scattered along the parade route, Atlantic Avenue. There will be fire engines, marching firefighters, bagpipes, and guard teams carrying flags and fire axes. The free afterparty begins at 7 p.m. at Old School Square.
Sat., March 13, 2 p.m., 2010
