Overtown is one of Miami’s greatest treasures and one of the most important historical sites in the region, but it doesn’t always get the love it deserves. Despite its dilapidated appearance, it remains one of the main cultural hubs in the city, a great incubator of music and art. The Overtown Music & Arts Festival will bring those elements to life while stimulating the local economy and offering a good time to all Magic City residents.
Formerly known as the Overtown Rhythm & Arts Festival, this fun-filled weekend will pack the Overtown Business District (NW Third Avenue between Eighth and 11th streets) with the best music, art, and food Miami has to offer. This year boasts concerts by national R&B crooners Raheem DeVaughn, Keke Wyatt, Case, and others, as well as a lively set from the Deep Fried Funk Band and hilarious moments from comedian Larry Dogg. After dancing up an appetite, you can nom on authentic barbecue, Southern cooking, Caribbean goodies, and locally grown produce. Then take in the works of Overtown’s rich artistic past as well as new pieces by local students and artists repping the diverse neighborhood.
