Susan Marshall is a genius. That's why the choreographer, who uses everyday movements to tell a story, received a $500,000 John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation “genius” grant. It also might have something to do with why she received a Guggenheim Fellowship and an American Choreographer Award, plus the 10 New York Dance and Performance awards she and her artistic collaborators have racked up since 1985. Hence the reason Tigertail Productions booked Susan Marshall & Company to perform the Miami-Dade County premiere of Cloudless, a collection of 18 short pieces that range from 30 seconds to five minutes, at the Colony Theater. The vignettes even have different seasons -- red autumn leaves fall on the stage one minute, winter snow the next. “It takes you from one emotion to another, from one setting to another,” says Mary Luft, Tigertail's executive director. “The work is luscious.”

Described as playful and erotic, Cloudless includes some brief nudity. How brief is it? “You'll just have to come and see it,” Luft responds. Consider us there. Tonight’s performance starts at 8:30. General admission is $25, VIP $50. Call 305-546-8546 or visit www.tigertail.org for tickets.
