Miamis Art Basel hangover lasts for at least a month or two, and then the natives start getting restless again. And Saturday nights all right for gallery crawls, but sometimes an art fan just needs more than passé exhibits, thimble-size cups of tepid wine, and ubiquitous bottles of Grolsch to quench their cultural desires. Hang tight weve got something special for ya. Imagine a world where art, live music, fashion, film, and performance blend into an intoxicating swirl, complete with complimentary drinks and hors doeuvres. Imagine Artopia, an evening of cultural fusion brought to you by Miami New Times and the Miami International Film Festival (MIFF). Now come on out to the beautiful Charcoal Studio and experience it yourself.
MIFF will provide visual treats and sneak previews of its upcoming screenings, while Nil Lara delivers sonic entertainment. Kayce Armstrongs distressed and remixed Art of Shade fashions will take center stage, and DJs Carmel Ophir and Ryan Evans will keep the party bumpin. It goes down from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets cost $20 at the door, and only art lovers 21 and older are allowed entry.
