Miami-Dade firefighter Warren Burgs has been dousing flames for 32 years, but he is still as hot as the younger fire studs who grace the months of the South Florida Firefighters Calendar. I always saw the calendars and wanted to try out, but I heard they had to dance, says Burgs. And Im the worst dancer in the world. Burgs didnt have to dance, and the judges certainly thought he was hot enough to pose with his son Tim for the September spread. Returning as an MVP for the 2007 calendar, Burgs says its kind of funny and awkward to pose shirtless in front of the camera. And what do his colleagues think? They call me calendar boy, he laughs.
Another one of this years MVPs is Pete Tozzi, a 21-year veteran of Broward County Fire Rescue. The older guys are better than the younger ones, Tozzi states. Oh, dont tell them I said that! (Dont worry -- its our little secret.) To take a gander at these heroes without the risk of getting burned, you can meet the men of the 2007 calendar Thursday, August 24, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood; 954-327-7625), where the hot studmuffins will be signing calendars beginning at 9:00 p.m. For those who cannot stay up that late (or fathom driving to Broward), head to Dolphin Mall today at 1:30. Calendars cost $15, and proceeds benefit Heres Help and other local charities, including Neighbors 4 Neighbors, Best Buddies, and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.
