The Grove ... where once upon a time artists ran free, bohemians ruled the streets, and no two houses looked alike. Although the area is being bulldozed and repopulated with multimillion-dollar McMansions, and briefcases are replacing fishing poles, some of its former spirit remains. Tonight everyone is invited to Commodore Plaza to enjoy the free Coconut Grove Block Party, which celebrates Miamis history and diversity. Restaurants will spill tables into the streets so guests can enjoy the live music and dancing while dining or sipping cocktails. Stages on both ends of the street will showcase performances from professional bands and international dancers. The lineup includes Mocka Jumbi Stilt Dancers and Sunshine Junkanoo (Bahamas), Kazak International (Haiti), Meenakshi Menon (India), Dread Lion (Caribbean/Reggae), Clarita Filgueiras Flamenco Dance Company (Spain), Suenalo Sound System (Miami), Delou African Dance Ensemble (Africa), Conjunto Progreso (Cuba), and Unidos da Florida Samba School (Brazil).
