Tales of romance and mystery are often told poetically or with a gritty edge. Bob Shacochis’ latest novel, The Woman Who Lost Her Soul, does both. It’s the story of a lawyer who travels to Haiti to investigate the murder of a once-beautiful photojournalist. As the plot thickens and the coming-of-age story evolves, readers take a journey that spans more than 50 years, four countries, and several wars.
Shacochis is no stranger to the publishing world. Having written previous award-winning books and lent his voice to magazines such as Harper’s and GQ, he is as experienced as they come. And now he’ll bring The Woman Who Lost Her Soul to Miami this Tuesday with an appearance at 8 p.m. at Books & Books (265 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables). The event is free, and copies of the freshly published novel will be available for purchase. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Shacochis and have their copies signed.
