An art walk after Art Basel is like being offered a KFC Double Down sandwich after Thanksgiving. We get it. You're art-full. But we're guessing you spent most last week traipsing around art fairs showing international artists. It's time to support the local scene once again. In conjunction with the Basel frenzy, Miami's galleries are showing some of their most provocative shows of the year. Take a stroll and see for yourself at this weekend's Second Saturday Art Walk, which starts at 7 p.m.

The Maginot Line: This group exhibit of works on paper, curated by the Knight Foundation's Dennis Scholl, features Daniel Arsham, Ben Berlow, Michael Berryhill, Willem de Kooning, Jean Dubuffet, Mark Grotjahn, Marie Lorenz, Pepe Mar, Jillian Mayer, Kirsten Nash, Kori Newkirk, William J. O'Brien and Claes Oldenburg. Come see what all the fuss is about. David Castillo, 2234 NW Second Ave., Miami. Call 305-573-8110 or visit davidcastillogallery.com.

The Panelists: This group show features 16 artists all contributing to the narrative of one continuing comic book story. Artists include KRK Ryden, Mitch O'Connell (Newsweek and the New York Times), and Anthony Ausgang (who designed the cover of MGMTs Congratulations record). Harold Golen Gallery, 2294 NW Second Ave., Miami. Call 305-576-1880 or visit haroldgolengallery.com.

Limestoned:
Have you heard about entrepreneurial mathematicians? The new professional class?  The information age has bred a growing population of these intense number crunchers, and artist Nick Lobo takes the phenomenon to task in Limestoned. Charest-Weinberg Gallery, 250 NW 23rd Street, Space 408, Miami. Call 305-292-0411 or visit charestweinberg.com.

This Time in America: Part I: This impressive, group photo exhibit includes work by Juliana Beasley, who chronicles scenes from the last stop of the A train in New York. Nina Berman's Hedge series offers glimpses into the cold world of Wall Street's fund managers. Tim Hetherington, who shot for the documentary Restrepo, shows his poetic photo essay Sleeping Soldiers. Get your photo fix this month as Photo Miami was notably absent from this year's Miami Art Week. Gallery I/D, 2531 NW Second Ave., Miami. Call 305-753-2881 or visit galleryid.com.

Orchestrated Gestures & Weather Patterns and Paint: Clifton Childree presents three arcade games, each with its own film, scored with a lost or unfinished piece of music. The artist, who says he was attracted to great ideas that fizzled out, pays tribute to composers gone mad who suffered untimely deaths. In Arnold Meches's "Weather Patterns and Paint," the 87-year-old painter re-contextualizes classics by masters such as Rembrandt and Goya. Dorsch Gallery, 151 NW 24th St., Miami. all 305-576-1278 or visit dorschgallery.com

Once Upon a Time: Federico Uribe's magical book world has been up since the November art walk, and he even had a few pieces at Art Miami. But in case you haven't stopped in yet, use this Saturday to sneak a last peek at his tree sculptures made from hardcover books. Now Contemporary Art, 175 NW 25th St., Miami. Call 305-571-8181 or visit nowcontemporaryart.com.

Come check out Jesus Soto, Carlos Cruz Diez, Alejandro Otero, Victor Lucena, Francisco Salazar, Carlos Cabeza, Victor Vasarely, and Bernar Venet in this new gallery. O. Ascanio Gallery, 2600 NW Second Ave., Miami; 305-571-9036; oascaniogallery.com.

Dream Catcher: This exhibit hinges on iconic air-born structures, from planes to flying saucers and satellites. They evoke the atomic age and tragedies in the sky such as 9/11 and the Hindenburg. Expect work by Switzerland's Comenius Roethlisberger and Admir Jahic; Ukraine's Nazar Bilyk, Volodymyr Kuznetsov, and Zhanna Kadyrova; and U.S.'s Taro Hattori.
