Sure, the ruckus of football, basketball, and soccer are cool, but when the moment calls for something more relaxing, we pull on our white gloves and step into our plaid pants for a round of golf. We love how the 18 holes of rolling greenery are dotted with oases of sand and water, and the peace is interrupted only by the sound of an occasional cart rolling by. Even the celebratory move a simple fist pump into the air is silent. Friday were loving the sport even more because the 17th annual H.O.T. Challenge Golf Tournament is hitting the links, so our search for tranquility will benefit us and the Visitor Industry Councils African-American Scholarship Fund.
Each swing we take will help increase the number of youngsters who contribute to Miami-Dade Countys hospitality industry, and that sounds more awesome than a hole-in-one. Meet us at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa at 7 a.m. for registration and a continental breakfast. Tee time is 8, and although its a bit pricey to cough up $500 a round, its free to stand on the side and perfect your golf clap. Or you could always head to the silent auction at 12:30 and try your hand at winning an exotic getaway, sports memorabilia, or a fab piece of jewelry.
