Rock Band, the videogame, feeds on every young guys fantasy of kicking ass by busting out arena-shaking guitar solos, taking names, and getting panties thrown at him onstage. Rock Band Live, the concert tour, is a decidedly more fey affair. Headlined by the rose-vest-wearing emo rockers of Panic at the Disco and Dashboard Confessional, who are reminded of a lover's betrayal every time they find a strand of her hair (so sad), it's not exactly the masculine debauchery of past rock. Add to that Plain White T's, whose "Hey There Delilah" is every high school girl's dream slow-dance song, and ... lets just say Ted Nugent wouldn't approve.
But skinny-jean-wearing high school boys of today know the best way of getting some panties thrown at them is through soul-baring poetry and eyeliner. It might not exactly be rock and roll, but who doesn't like that? Catch the outpouring of young, male emotional vulnerability this Friday at 7 p.m. at the BankAtlantic Center.
