Theres no music in the world more evocative than the theme songs to our favorite videogames. To test out this little hypothesis, simply hum the title track to Super Mario Bros. and see if you dont instantly imagine yourself as a mustached Italian plumber wearing red overalls while hopping over Koopas on your way to save the princess. And we double (dragon) dare you to listen to the haunting theme from Halo and not break out into a choir-boy-like hymn.
Yep, videogame music is as much a part of the fabric of our culture as the games themselves. And Video Games Live aims to pay tribute to that. The nationwide concert series takes some of the most memorable music captured in binary code and brings it to life with a riveting orchestral stage show. Through live-action segments and a Laser Floyd-esque light show, Video Games Live will transport you from the days of Pong all the way through the breakneck action of Metal Gear Solid. And best of all, theres no controller required. The epic journey begins Saturday at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
