Before "planking" convinced the nation's alternative sports junkies that you didn't have to be athletic to bust out some sweet moves in public, there was parkour.
Before Hurricane Andrew tore through South Florida in 1992, there was the Miami Marine Stadium.
Both things still exist, of course. They're just not talked about much anymore. The Miami Marine Stadium still sits on Virginia Key with a serene view to the downtown Miami skyline, and plans for its restoration were approved in March -- but its primary function, for the time being, is serving as a large-scale canvas for graffiti. The sport of parkour no longer enjoys the fad status it achieved several years ago, though plenty of committed freerunners still practice the sport.
So this World Freerunning Parkour Federation video of parkour practicers jumping off the railings and spraypainted walls of the Miami Marine Stadium just seems, well, natural. (The uniquely beautiful setting and pro-level camera skills are pretty easy on the eyes, too.) Check it out after the jump.
