A big part of the moviegoing experience is sound. You might not realize it, but the soundtrack of a scene affects the mood, tone, and overall emotional impact of any given moment. When the music changes, everything changes, and that’s all the fun. Cinema Sounds at O Cinema (90 NW 29th St., Miami) takes this concept of the movie soundtrack and turns it on its head, putting control in the hands of local bands and musicians to do what they may. It’s part rock ’n’ roll show, part cinematic spectacle, but all new, fresh, and exciting. For the 11th edition of Cinema Sounds, six bands will invade the O Cinema theater to perform original scores and accompaniments to various films and scenes of their choosing. Representing grindcore, punk, electronic, and other genres, these new takes on movie-music madness are sure to inspire and make you think about just what goes into a score.
