Reese Witherspoon didn't get to be America's sweetheart by accident. Long before her Oscar win for Walk the Line and her short-lived romance with Jake Gyllenhall, she won the hearts of the nation in a little film called Legally Blonde. That a story about a ditzy sorority girl who's secretly smart enough to get into Harvard Law School became a hit was about as unlikely as the plot itself. But the movie earned enough fans to inspire a sequel, a DVD spin-off, and Legally Blonde: The Musical, a seven-time Tony-nominated and Laurence Olivier Award-winning Broadway production.

And now, the musical theater version of Elle Woods' story is coming to Miami New Times' annual Iron Fork food event, thanks to Norwegian Cruise Line.

The show has traded Broadway for the open seas, today serving as entertainment aboard Norwegian's newest ship, Norwegian Getaway, which will be the largest ship to homeport in Miami when it arrives in February. Actors from the ship will head over to the Arsht Center to entertain foodies as they sample dishes from over 45 Miami restaurants.

The cast of the show is still planning exactly which Legally Blonde musical numbers they'll perform. But with titles like "Omigod You Guys," "Daughter of Delta Nu," and of course, "Bend and Snap," there's plenty to choose from.

All Iron Fork guests will have the opportunity to see and hear the actors do their thing from the box seats and second tier of the theater. But VIP guests get to see the action up close from the first floor VIP Stage Lounge, as well as sample dishes from Ocean Blue by Geoffrey Zakarian, the Food Network star-inspired seafood restaurant aboard the Getaway.

Iron Fork takes place Thursday, Aug. 1, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Arsht Center. (VIP attendees can enter at 6 p.m. for an extra hour of foodie fun.) GA tickets cost $35 in advance or $55 at the door; VIP tickets cost $65 in advance or $90 at the door. Visit newtimesironfork.com.
