We're not sure exactly what happened when New in Town got pitched. We imagine some screenwriter hack was all like, "You know how in Miami the temperature is relatively warm? Right? Well, what if some lady from Miami had to move to the frozen tundra of Minnesota? Then she had all sorts of slapstick adventures in snow, but then, in the coldest part of the U.S., found her frigid heart warmed? Eh?" And then a producer was all like, "Hell yeah! Here is millions and millions of dollars! Go make it RIGHT NOW!" Then that producer invested with Bernie Madoff because he knows a good thing when he sees it.

We called this thing out as a stinker back when we saw the trailer, and looks like we were dead on. It might just eclipse Bride Wars as the worst reviewed movie of 2009 so far on Rotten Tomatoes. It has only a 14 percent freshness rating. Do you know what other movies have been released so far this year that are, apparently, much, much better? Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Hotel for Dogs, and My Bloody Valentine 3D.

It takes a special kind of crappy movie to somehow be worse than all of those. Seriously, Rise of the Lycans?
