In the mid-Nineties, DJ Derek Plaslaiko made a name for himself on the Detroit rave scene with what promoters describe as clinical ... sophisticated sets. A residency at legendary club Motor soon followed, as did high demand on the Midwestern party circuit. Plaslaiko toured, sharing the stage with Acquaviva and others, and helped pioneer a new era of Motor City nightlife. Then he left for New York. In 2006, he was voted Best Techno DJ by the Village Voice. Today hes a resident at The Bunker at Galapagos in Williamsburg and has a steady international touring schedule. Point is, dude puts in work.
Catch him at Amendment XXI before he heads to Tokyo. Plaslaiko will be here with fellow turntablists D.R.U.N.K.E.N. and Pomps for D:Pomps Minimal Sessions. Admission is $15 at the door, but you can get in for 10 bucks if you e-mail your name to [email protected], or text it to 786-897-8473. Visit www.spankmiami.com.
