While Latina celebrity chef Lorena Garcia was creating a menu for Taco Bell, Miami resident Ingrid Hoffmann decided to take the scenic route to celebrity. And because Hoffmann has kept it real, she gets el respeto she deserves. The ambitious yet personable Hoffmann has enjoyed success as a restaurateur and as host of two television programs, the Cooking Channel’s Simply Delicioso and Univision’s Delicioso. She’s also written two cookbooks, one named after each of her cooking shows.
Enter Latin D’lite, Hoffmann’s latest tome and one that Miamians sorely need. Latin D’lite offers more than 150 healthier versions of traditional Latino recipes, so we can keep eating our rice and beans without packing on the pounds and raising our cholesterol levels. The Latina sweetheart will be discussing her new book at Soho Beach House (4385 Collins Ave., Miami Beach) Wednesday at 7 p.m. in an event sponsored by Books & Books. Attendees will also be privy to a cooking demonstration and book signing. The event is open to the public, and copies of Hoffmann’s books will be available at the event. Visit booksandbooks.com.
