One day, we may learn that all those years of getting batted around by Homey D. Clown caused Tommy Davidson lasting neurological damage, the kind that should lead to congressional commissions on sketch comedy safety. By then, our children, in the back seats of submarines headed up Biscayne Boulevard, will shake their heads at the In Living Color bits at which we used to laugh. They will look up from their screens with disbelief, the way we do now after seeing old photos of people protesting interracial marriage. Outside the portholes, mutant sharks -- emboldened by rising sea levels and our delicious mofongo-like flesh – will snap their hungry jaws. Soon the sharks will make their grab for power and it will be too late to regret passing that assault weapons ban.
But until that day comes, let us rejoice in that Tommy Davidson – erstwhile standout of In Living Color and present-day star of Adult Swim’s Black Dynamite -- is still at the top of his game. First noticed by Kennan Ivory Wayans because of his standup act, Davidson's still at it, and bringing his show to the Miami Improv (3390 Mary St., Coconut Grove) for three nights. Two-drink minimum? Sure, but there’s no maximum.
