It’s been some time since you hummed along to “Auld Lang Syne,” yet it might as well be January 1 as far as your New Year’s resolution to lose weight is concerned. Now it’s time to pick up the slack, and you can start by punishing those flabby glutes at the Winding Up the Wachovia stair climb. At the event, which benefits the American Lung Association, participants will climb 55 floors up the Wachovia Financial Center (200 S. Biscayne Blvd., Miami), starting at 8:00 a.m. Whew! Fees are $50 for participants and $10 for spectators. The deadline for registration is Thursday, April 12. Call 1-800-524-8010, or visit www.stairclimbmiami.com.

If you’re not quite ready to break a sweat, you can still get thinspiration at the 2007 AVP Crocs Tour at Bicentennial Park (1075 Biscayne Blvd., Miami). Today at 9:00 a.m., watch professional beach volleyball athletes like Kerri Walsh and Karch Kiraly compete during the main draw competition. Their svelte bodies might just motivate you to participate in a game in the Crocs Cup Interactive Volleyball Area. When you need a break, wander over to the X-box gaming oasis, sampling booths, Jose Cuervo cabana, and other attractions. Tickets range from $10 to $40. Visit www.avp.com.
