At the end of Michael Moore's remarkable documentary Roger & Me, the filmmaker corners former General Motors CEO Roger Smith and asks him if he'd visit a family who'd been evicted from their home in Flint, Michigan. Smith's decision to shut down several plants in the city cost 30,000 folks their job, several of whom lost their homes.
"I've been to Flint, and I'm sorry for those people," Smith tells Moore, "but I don't know anything about it."
The documentarian fires back, "They used to work for General Motors and now they don't work there anymore... Could you come up to Flint with us?"
Following Moore's exmaple, we're planning to corner the filmmaker next month at the Miami Book Fair and blindside him with our own pressing question, "Why'd you shoot down our interview request?" At the Book Fair, he'll talk his new book, Here Comes Trouble: Stories From My Life.
