Instead of your usual nice little Sunday of Home Depot and Bed, Bath & Beyond, why not bike over to Earth Fest 2009? Miami's greenest hoedown begins at 10 a.m., goes until sundown, and features workshops on recession-relevant topics such as reducing your electrical bill, growing an organic garden, and rain barrel construction. Kids have their own zone of activities that includes a corner for recycling games, and the hungry will be served by green vendors featuring vegetarian and vegan cuisine.

At 2 p.m., Earth Fest begins to spin a little faster, when none other than DJ Le Spam and the Spam Allstars take the stage, along with the Patxi Pastor Band, Song of the Soul, and GSR. Organizers recommend bringing a chair, a container to take advantage of the free water, and a percussive instrument for the drum circle that will surely coalesce. There will also be an electronics-recycling center for all of those Discmans and Nokia flip phones lying around your house.
