Many of your favorite video game franchises (Mario, Zelda, etc.) are now old enough to rent a car. Fortunately, you can soothe that "holy shit, we're old" feeling by celebrating the music that made these franchises so iconic.
The Legend of Zelda was given the full symphony treatment last year with great success. This year, Final Fantasy fangirls and boys will have the chance to hear their favorite music performed live, as Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy brings a full orchestra to the Adrienne Arsht Center November 23rd at 8 pm.
The concert features the man himself, composer Nobuo Uematsu, who dreamed up the music heard in the majority of the Final Fantasy series. He'll perform as keyboard soloist along with Grammy-winning musician Arnie Roth on violin and Susan Calloway, who sang Final Fantasy XIV's theme, "Answers," on vocals.
Along with the music, viewers will be treated to big-screen visuals that call up the most poignant moments of the franchise's 25-year run.
The Arsht Center isn't explicitly inviting Final Fantasy fans to attend the event in their finest imitations of the franchise's characters, like it did with The Legend of Zelda back in December. But this is an event primarily for video game fans, and you know those nerds like to bring the fabulous cosplay style. So if you wanna dye your hair pink or dress as a Moogle, more power to you -- you probably won't be alone.
