There was a time when Miami was more likely to host a festival called Farts for All than Fall for the Arts. But the stink of being a cultural wasteland is gone. In its place is the sweet aroma of performing arts, and the Arsht Center has become the epicenter of our citys overdue cultural renaissance.
This Sunday, more than 100 nonprofit arts and community organizations will participate in the daylong festival. Stages will feature preview performances from the Arshts upcoming season. Then urban Latino funk band Ozomatli will headline a lineup that includes hip-hop acts and a Japanese drumming extravaganza akin to Stomp. Also, look for childrens activities, seminars and workshops, and special ticket deals on upcoming shows. Plus there will be more than 30 gourmet street-food vendors curated by Miamis renowned Burger Beast.
