It's not easy having eyes all over the scene, being around to take in all the wild visuals at all the worthwhile places in the city. There are, however, those parties and gallery openings where a fortunate photographer can point and shoot. Every week, in collaboration with WorldRedEye, New Times will bring you a solid recap of all the experiences you may have missed around Miami in previous days. It's impossible to be everywhere, but hey, we can try to keep our Eye on Miami.

September 24 — Javier Martin: War, Consumption, and Other Human Hobbies Opening Reception at Valli Art Gallery
Valli Art Gallery presented the opening reception for Javier Martin’s War, Consumption, and Other Human Hobbies, a strong combination of paintings, photographs, sculptures and installations that gathers the individual message of each work to characterize the entire exhibition with a particular language, where criticism towards contemporary and global society prevails. Topics such as fashion, politics, money and even adult film iconography become channels of expression; nevertheless communication is altered by Javier´s vision. A vision that invites you to feel identified but also pushes you to self-assessment. In this new exhibition, the initial uncertainty and intrigue fade with the understanding of the depth of the artist´s message; this is the purpose of Javier with “War, Consumption and Other Human Hobbies“, an expedition to those social issues that define the everyday world represented with an ironic perspective that challenges the viewer. The deliberate interaction of mass consumption objects and materials contrasted with symbols that describe certain political criticism shape the works presented in this exhibition.

September 25 — AudiDrive305xTypoe
As we zoom on into the Audi TT Drive 305 – a digital partnership between THE COLLECTION and World Red Eye – insiders can get an up close and personal look at the all-new 2016 Audi TT through the eyes of three of Miami’s own. We spent the day with Visual Artist Typoe, who gave us a glimpse into Miami through his eyes behind the wheel of the newly-arrived 2016 Audi TT. Cast between worlds of opposing values, at once an anonymous prestidigitator and high-ranking glitterati, Typoe straddles an unseen fence. His handiwork, which swaths billboards, public arenas, and buildings literally rotting with neglect, has expanded from the crumbling edifice of a cultural misnomer into the social spotlight. By nature a commenter, a heckler, his self-referential styling’s are violent and poetic in equal measure. Illuminating parodies between gang relations and organized religion, corporations and the massacre of war, Typoe’s mixed media creations range from factory finished luxury items and graphics to vandalized found objects that flaunt a punk-like disregard for beauty. Simmering for the moment under the lid of ‘the gallery’ these fetishistic, narcissistic articles resonate with devastating potential and beget insurgent thoughts.

October 2 — An Exquisite Evening Hosted by Champagne Krug & Toys for Boys
On what was a magical fall evening under the stars, Champagne Krug and Toys for Boys Magazine brought a taste of Reims to South Beach with an intimate dinner at the Sandbox at The Miami Beach EDITION. A spectacularly set table played host to a slew of VIP guests that enjoyed Krug champagne in its many different incarnations as paired to complement each course. From oysters and Grande Cuvée en magnum to a braised short rib paired with Krug Rosé, the offerings were plentiful and quite particular in their pairing. And since the flights ranged in age from a Clos d’Amonnay 2000 to a recreated 2004 Grande Cuvée, guests were walked through an education on Champagne Krug by none other than Margareth Henriquez: the first Hispanic woman to head up the House of Krug as President and CEO. The Venezuelan-born Harvard graduate has a real grasp on the world of luxury and the levels of quality that set the standard making the evening’s partnership with Toys for Boys an obvious marriage based on the appreciate of real luxury. An illuminated Krug sign revealed itself as a golden glow that shone on the acoustic band, which provided private entertainment for the specially curated group of twenty.
