If youre on Collins Avenue between now and February 21 and you see a bicycle roll by decorated with 24-karat gold spikes, Swarovski crystals, nickel plating, and giant speakers, call the police. Thats not just any custom job; thats the work of Carlos Rolon, AKA Dzine, and its been stolen from his solo show at the Bass Museum.
Of course, we cant really blame anyone for coveting one of Dzines hood-inspired creations. The unparalleled vision and craftsmanship are why he is a winner of the Joan Mitchell Foundation Award and is repped by topnotch galleries such as Deitch Projects in New York and SCAI the Bathhouse in Tokyo. But looky-looky only, Holmes no touchy. The Bass is open noon to 5 p.m. General admission costs $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students with ID.
