Mike McKenzie is an NFL player who pulls his weight both on and off the field. The adorable, dreadlocked defensive back for the New Orleans Saints reaches out to disadvantaged youth and stresses the importance of staying in school. He dreams of building his own educational facility right here in his hometown, and hopes to raise funds for his 34 Ways Foundation during the Mike McKenzie Celebrity Charity Weekend presented by Checkers.

Tonight America’s Next Top Model’s Tiffany will host a celebrity mixer and silent auction at Nikki Marina (3660 S. Ocean Dr., Hollywood; 954-602-8750). From 7:00 to 10:00 you can mingle with the big guys of the NFL as you try to wrestle snacks from them and imbibe free drinks (please keep the beer away from Tiffany’s weave). Tiffany, who has been busy with modeling, video work, and hosting parties, is excited about this event. “I love giving back to my community, especially to the kids,” she says. Admission is free, but you must RSVP to [email protected].

A celebrity basketball game is scheduled for Friday at Miami Norland Senior High School (1050 NW 195th St., Miami). Admission is $12. And from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, you can get your fill of food, fun, and games -- including NASCAR show cars and simulators -- at a five-dollar Football Camp and a free Community Day at Parkway Middle School (2349 NW 175th St., Miami). NFL players scheduled to appear throughout the weekend include Chris Chambers and Randy McMichael of the Dolphins, Santana Moss of the Redskins, Willis McGahee of the Bills, Al Harris of the Packers, Zack Crockett of the Raiders, Travis Taylor and Darren Sharper of the Vikings, and Dwight Smith of the Saints.
