Surely you've used the phrase "once in a blue moon" at some point in your lifetime without knowing exactly just what the phrase actually means. In figurative terms, it describes a far-fetched or rare idea or set of events. Literally, however, a blue moon is the term given to a subsequent full moon in a single moon cycle. In simpler terms, when one month has two full moons the second is considered a blue moon.

True to form, blue moons are a once in a blue moon occurrence – the last one took place in 2012 and the next (after Friday's) isn't until 2018. And because Miami loves any excuse to have some type of revelry, lunar events are no different, except when they involve yoga, a live drum circle, vibrational therapy, and a cocktail. If that sounds like an ideal Friday evening, well, then head to Exhale Spa at the Loews Miami Beach this Friday at 8 p.m. Did we mention the event is gratis? Consider it mentioned.

So bring your mat (or not – Exhale is providing mats) and grab a spot at the Americana lawn for the hour long yoga flow class that will be set to the rhythm of live drumming and capped off with a healing vibrational therapy. The class will be led by instructors Marisol Tamez and Sara Quiriconi.

After your shavasana, you'll be able to indulge in lite bites, mini massages, express manis, henna application, a braid bar, and more. There will also be fire performers and 20% off food and beverages from The Rum Line—you know, in case express manis and braids aren't your thing. If, for whatever reason, you're boycotting alcohol, Zico will be on site whipping up smoothies. Otherwise, Rum Line will be offering yogis a special discount for the rest of the evening, which just in case you've never been is South Beach's best kept imbibing oasis, not to mention the perfect place to stare at the blue moon all night long with a cocktail in hand.

Namaste.

Space is limited, so be sure to confirm your spot at exhalespabluemoon.evenbrite.com.
