Once upon a time there was a playhouse perfectly situated on a pleasant street named Miracle Mile. At this playhouse worked a group of thespians who held the children of the community near and dear. For the sake of the kids, they decided to stage the world premiere of The Klemperers’ New Clothes, a homespun version of a Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale. The winner of a national call competition, this musical is suitable for all ages and deals with issues of trust, honesty, and understanding -- something from which we could all learn.

The show opens this weekend in celebration of the eleventh annual National Children’s Theatre Festival. On Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 10:00 a.m., the streets will bustle with activities, including breakfast with Winnie the Pooh and friends, magic shows, story time, acting workshops, and a performance of the musical. Tickets cost $15. You can also catch The Klemperers’ New Clothes every Saturday at 2:00 through April 29 at the Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre.
Sat., March 25; Sun., March 26
