Miami (hooray!) has its own slew of events to commemorate the occasion. It's just a shame that this year, as the night goes global, FNO lands on the last day of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, preventing JAPs a plenty from indulging in the festivities. Oh well. For those of you who can't come out and party in the name of fashion, drown your sorrows in a glass of Manischewitz and think, "next year in Bal Harbor." For those of you who can, read on to figure out which events you'll be hitting (and which you'll be giving a miss).
The Village of Merrick Park: Enjoy coffee and cocktails at one of
FNO's main Miami events, with a flagship party hosted by Neiman Marcus
and Ocean Drive magazine. When you've done enough damage to your wallet, retire to
the FNO Lounge, and be sure to remember the night with a complimentary
professional photograph that's yours with any $25 purchase.
Most stores offer significant discounts tonight, but keep an eye out for
these special events:
-
Perhaps one of the more affordable stores participating in FNO,
Anthropologie will host an informal fashion show, provide drinks and bites, and give you the chance to get styled with a personal shopper.
- At Betsey Johnson, there'll be a cupcake bar. But take it easy or else
you won't be able to fit into her punk-rock tutus anymore.
- The first 20 guests to arrive at H.Stern will receive an autographed copy of Diane von Furstenberg's autobiography, A Signature Life.
Bal Harbor Shops: Listen to music, sip champagne, and shop your
socks off for good causes at the most stylish "block party" in town. All
your favorite luxury fashion retail players are opening their doors
with signature parties, special-edition merchandise, and guaranteed
guest appearances. This is the not-to-be missed FNO event. Be sure to
check out the 7 p.m. parties at Chloe's, Trina Turk, Pucci, and Zingara
Swimwear.
Aventura Mall: Join your fave stores as they show off their Fall/
Winter '10 collections -- all dished up alongside the ubiquitous stem of
champagne. The highlight? A pair of fashions shows at 7 p.m. (J. Lindeberg)
and 8 p.m. (William Rast) respectively. And, psst.... famed shoe maven,
Steve Madden, will be making a guest appearance at Nordstrom.
Design District: Check out the handy pdf map of FNO participating
stores in the Design District. Maybelline New York's Color Studio Hot
Spot will be in the Garden Lounge. There'll be a cocktail
reception at Maison Martin Margiela, and at Luminaire, catch of showcase of
high fashion from Balenciaga to Givenchy.
