Since its inception in 1995, the Museum of Contemporary Art (770 NE 125th St., North Miami) has risen to the ranks of the top arts institutions in the nation thanks to the vision of its director and chief curator, Bonnie Clearwater.
In addition to possessing a keen eye for burgeoning talent and having a finger on the pulse of the latest bleeding-edge art trends, Clearwater has left an indelible footprint on contemporary culture by helping launch the careers of local, national, and international talent and curating major retrospectives of some of the art world’s biggest names.
Under her watch, MOCA, one of the few contemporary museums in the nation that actually collects art, has also amassed upward of 700 works in its brief history.
