Williams Sisters Gearing up for Their First Showdown in Miami
There are few rivalries in modern sports more intriguing than the one between Venus and Serena Williams. Sure, there are the haters who want to think the outcomes are fixed, but for the rest of us watching the two sisters, who just happen to be the most dominant players of the past decade (or are they the most dominant players who just happen to be sisters?) is a fascinating thing.
But despite Miami being among the sisters' favorite non-Grand Slam events, the two have never faced off on Key Biscayne until now. [Sorry, blame it on the Riptide sports stats fact checking team, which does not exist]. They'll meet in the semifinals. Number one ranked Serena admitted she looked more than a little shaky in her quarter-finals match against Li Na, while Venus made quick work of her opponent.
Serena has been the more winning of the Williams over the past few years and is heading for a record sixth title in the Miami Masters, but we can't help but root for a Venus upset.
