University of Miami Women's Basketball Enters Top 25
Those of us who bleed orange and green may have been left holding back tears of orange and green after the disappointing football season, but cheer up Hurricanes fans. The most promising University of Miami team so far this year appears to be the women's basketball Ttam. They entered the AP poll for the first time this year by holding down the 22nd spot, have a stellar 15-1 record, and even though it's early in conference play, sit atop the notoriously difficult ACC.
The lady Canes made it all the way to the final game of last year's WNIT tournament, but could have their eyes on the NCAA tournament this year. After dropping their second game to Nebraska, the 'Canes haven't lost a game since.
Despite the streak the 'Canes relatively easy early season schedule might have prevented them from entering the AP poll until now. Though, before they entered in-conference play they claimed all but one win with double digits, with victories by thirty points or more not at all uncommon. Their only win not be 10 points or more came in their victory against 12th ranked Georgetown, and even that was by nine.
The 'Canes entered ACC play this week with a tour of Virginia, and they racked up big road victories against UVA and Virginia Tech.

Though, they might not be as heralded as Wade and James, Riquna Williams and Shenise Johnson have routinely traded the duty of being Miami's scoring monster for the night.
Miami still has a long way to travel through the ACC before they can guarantee that NCAA birth though. They host Clemson and Boston College this week and have yet to face the ACC's myriad of other ranked teams, including FSU, Maryland and traditional heavyweights Duke and North Carolina.
