The RNC Just Forgot To Send Buses To Pick Up Florida's Delegation
Florida's Republican delegation hasn't exactly been getting the warmest welcome at the party's national convention in Tampa. First, Tropical Storm Isaac forced Rick Scott to cancel his big prime-time speech. Then, insiders floated the idea of taking away Sen. Marco Rubio's big moment introducing Mitt Romney so Ann Romney could get some limelight.
Now, it seems they're not even trying to pretend like the Florida GOP is welcome. The RNC just conveniently "forgot" to send a bus to pick up the state's delegates, leaving the politicos sweltering in 90 degree sun thirty miles from the convention.
The "excited" delegates were waiting for their bus to arrive at noon, the Tampa Bay Times reports -- but the rides never showed.
RNC officials admitted they'd forgotten to book the buses. They also had no idea when replacement buses would arrive.
"Well, this sucks," Hillsborough GOP chair Art Wood tells the Times.
Experts expect that whenever the Florida delegates finally do arrive at the RNC, they'll find their nametags covered in obscene doodles and their folding chairs rigged to comically collapse once they sit down.
