The Party Crasher - Matt Damon at Gulfstream; Fat Joe, Chris Tucker, D Wade and more at Soul Kitchen
It’s no surprise that the star of a handful of casino-themed flicks frequents the SoFla gambling scene when he has the chance. Although he was not buying into any Texas Hold ‘Em tourneys Saturday, Matt Damon, wife Luciana Barroso and a couple pals headed over to Gulfstream Park in Hallandale for some equestrian action. Although most of the thoroughbreds have left the building for the season, the lack of live action didn’t stop Damon and his party from spending some quality racing time via simulcast. Damon and Co. concentrated on playing horses at the Sport of Kings, knowing full-well where to place bets with his hard-earned cash. A decade ago, Damon bought in for $10,000 at the infamous Word Series of Poker in Las Vegas, just to get knocked out in the first round by Doyle Brunson. Playing it smart, the actor didn’t waste time with cards Saturday night. Maybe he should just stick to “acting” like a pimp-ass gambler while the recession plays out.
Sunday night, the Forge’s Soul Kitchen attracted a traffic jam of celebs and VIP guests. The night kicked off with Chris Tucker feasting on some steak at dinner from the Soul Kitchen menu – skipping out on signature chicken and waffles. Tucker was busy wining and dining with comedian Rayzor and Kevin Hart, who was apparently super thirsty, shelling out near-$3,000 for three bottles of Patron and two bottles of Grey Goose. Cats were gettin’ loose left and right, mixing with Red Bull and showing love for the M-I-A. Forge regular Mickey Rourke was obviously in attendance, buying out an entire section in Glass, done up with security and bodyguards for extra protection from who knows what. Rourke was breakin’ it down on the dance floor all night, alongside a few models, some bubbly and even more Patron! NFL legend Warren Sapp stopped in for a couple bottles of Goose as well, chatting with Headliner Market Group’s CEO Mike Gardner, and spent the rest of the night poppin’ his bottles with Chris Tucker.
The list kept growing as Star Jones’ semi-fabulous ex-hubby Al Reynolds came through, posting at the Headliner table checkin’ out the fly models with even more Grey Goose, red wine and, of course, some bubbly. Our own Dwyane Wade was also in the house shouting out to DJs Irie and Stevie J at the booth. Wade did his sober shuffle alongside Pacer Jermaine O’Neal. A bit later, Fat Joe rolled through 20-deep with mad females straight from a new music video shoot. The hip-hop mogul after-partied with his chicks and plenty of Patron, bubbly and Goose. Sapp came by to say “what up” and the party didn’t die down until after 5 a.m. I honestly can’t tell who the standout was, it’s a plain toss up between the sausage fest of millionaires vs. Patron and Grey Goose. Regardless, The Forge comes out as the winner, raking in both a dope crowd and tons of loot from a Soul Kitchen Sunday that’ll go down in the books.
