That's because no such thing had happen during the shows' runs until Southwest Florida Congressman Trey Radel got popped and then pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine.
Stephen Colbert opened his show and got right to it. "Tonight a Florida Congressman was arrested. Even more shockingly other Florida Congressman weren't," Colbert said. He then dug into Radel in his first segment.
"Folks, I hate to loose a Congressman so fiscally conservative that I'm sure he snorts his blow through a one dollar bill," cracks Colbert.

The Daily Show, meanwhile, took a slightly more subdued approach in a segment titled "Blowing Pains," but Stewart hit many of the same notes as Colbert including Radel's Colombian vacations and support for drug testing welfare recipients.
